A romantic ruin overlooking the town, Usk Castle is a unique place seemingly untouched by the outside world. It is a wonderful setting in which to create a party just as you would wish.
The castle green is enclosed by walls and towers which are illuminated at night, as are the walks to the meadow car park (parking for up to 100 cars), and down into the village of Usk. It is a completely natural area, where sheep, hens and geese customarily graze, so we would appreciate it if you would use bio-degradable table decorations and confetti.
The toilets, recently constructed to a high standard, are of home-grown green oak. There is mains water and electricity on site (11kw), but you are welcome to hire a generator if extra power should be needed.
The castle ruins are covered by Public Liability insurance, but events need their own insurance cover. The ruined walls are very attractive, but children should be dissuaded from trying them out! Out of consideration for our neighbours we ask that music be turned down at 12pm, and the guests leave by 1am. By law, fireworks now finish by 11pm.
Usk castle is open every day, only closing for private events. Access to the site is available on the day before as well as the morning of the event or wedding reception., which caterers and florists may find very useful. We would ask that the site is completely vacated by 11 am the following day, unless you wish to book the site for more than one day.
We can supply details of recommended people who have been involved with previous events: - caterers, florists, fireworks, horse-drawn carriages, musicians, photographers, printers, etc. We provide site information for caterers and entertainers, and ask that all waste be recycled or disposed of.
Prices for site hire are from £1,800 to £2,200, depending on guest numbers. The space is suitable for marquees seating up to 160. County Marquees of Chepstow 01291 629377 are approved by Cadw for Ancient Monuments.
Clients are responsible for their own event insurance, catering, marquee hire and lighting.
